Description: This practical and down-to-earth 'survival' guide gives advice and suggestions for parents who find bringing up a dyslexic child both frustrating and worrying. Strategies are suggested for coping in a positive way with the problems of the dyslexic at home and at school untidiness, poor memory, lack of self-esteem, homework, reading, spelling and maths. First published in 1991, the guide has now been comprehensively updated for this second edition. Christine Ostler trained as a teacher at Bishop Otter College, Chichester, and later with the Dyslexia Institute. She has lectured, trained teachers of children with specific learning difficulties and run numerous study skills courses for both dyslexic and non-dyslexic students. She was Head of the Dyslexia and Study Skills Department of Bembridge School on the Isle of Wight until, in 1996, she was appointed Director of the Susan Hampshire Centre at Cobham Hall School in Kent.
